Mr. Harrison was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana. He is a 1987 graduate of the University of South Florida and a 1990 graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Shawn is the founder and President of Shawn Harrison Associates, and is also the founder of Medical Collection Group, LLC, a background and asset screening company serving the long term care industry. He is a past recipient of the Tampa Bay Business Journal's "40 under 40" award, given annually to Tampa Bay's brightest and most successful young business professionals. In addition, he is a five time recipient of the USF "FAST 56" award, given annually to the 56 fastest growing Bull owned businesses in the world. Shawn has achieved the highest recognition of professional competence and ethics for attorneys given, the prestigious "AV" rating by Martindale- Hubbell. Mr. Harrison is a frequent national guest speaker on long term care issues.
Mr. Harrison also has a long history of service to his community, starting in 1996 as Chairman of the Tampa Palms Community Development District; 1999-2007 on the Tampa City Council; 2007 -2010 as a Governor Charlie Crist appointee to the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority, and in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010-2012, and then again from 2014-2018. Shawn was named the 2012 Florida Fraternal Order of Police Legislator of the Year for his sponsorship of the Fallen Heroes Family Tax Relief Act, and the 2016 Florida Assisted Living Federation Legislator of the Year. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Advisory Board to the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, and is a member of Florida Blue Key, USF Order of the Golden Brahman, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society, and Tampa Chapter Sons of the American Revolution.
Mr. Harrison practices in the areas of commercial litigation and health care law.
